Problem with iPhone solved

Before I start I have to let everyone know that I love my iPhone 3Gs.  Just today I told my wife I could possibly trade her in for the handheld device of the century. (a bit far you think?)

I first purchased a hacked version of the first iPhone about 1 month before the legitimate version was released, much to my dismay.  Every time an update came out I had to take it back to the shop to get the update and that was only after they had figured out how to hack the update.

Well, 6 months ago I managed to get my hands on the new iPhone 3Gs.  I was like a kid with a new candy bar.  Before I had even got to the car I had the box open and the laptop out to connect to iTunes and get the phone working.

After a few days of playing with the phone taking video and autofocus on the camera I tried to get the photos and video onto my PC.  Uh-Oh!!  This is where it seemed to fail me. I searched google and any other search engine.  Called some guy from Texas twice in 2 months with his end of conversation wisdom being “You know if you really want it to work….   Get a Mac

The last 2 months I have been so busy and haven’t even thought about it but, having a break over the last week and looking at my phone capacity dwindling, I decided to give it another go.

I have been trying on and off to use the backup of the iPhone and convert the iThmb files to Photoshop files then save them as a Jpeg for easy upload and transferring.  That may not sound like a lot but 1408 photos trying to do all of that aaaaaarrrrggghhhh!!

I started about 8pm with the riddle in my head.

“how do you eat an elephant?   One bite at a time”

Half way through transferring all of the photos I decided to move all of the back-up picture files to another location on the computer.  I figured if I could move all of this to another place at least I could delete most of the photos from the phone and start again.  No sooner had I moved all the backup files (iPod photo cache) to another location, connected the phone and the computer started to recognise the phone.  (first time ever)  Yay.

Now happily playing with the videos and pictures from the phone and loving my iPhone more than ever before.
