Final Movember Post for 2009

Well, we have come to the end of Movember.  I have enjoyed raising awareness for the cause and have been talking about a special design I had planned and here is the final product.

At the Start of Movember I just wanted to help raise awareness for the cause by trying my hand at growing a moustache from scratch for the first time while working.  (I have always had trouble looking presentable the first 2 weeks of growing facial hair, I think they call it baby face)  After getting over the initial shock of shaving off my beard, which I had sported for 2 years, people started to get used to me looking clean shaven until midway through the second week when I finally started to show a 5o’clock shadow.

It was around this time that the New Zealand All Whites football (soccer) team won thier qualifying match against Bharain to make it to the World Cup finals for the first time in 27 years.  I decided then that my moustache was going to take on a Kiwiana theme.

After spending last evening, after a few wines, trying to trim my facial hair and struggling, I managed to get @elouisenz, a great friend and owner of Elouise (Salon in Grey Lynn, Auckland), to help me with the trimming of my ‘lamb chops’ into something resembling a Fern.  I think she did a great job with the botch up I had made the evening before.  Filming and photographing the event was Lucy.  Thank you to both of you for helping me with my part in raising awareness for mens health issues.

After trimming we headed down into the restaurant to catch a few reactions and the reactions were all very similar to this.

Thank you everyone who donated to my Movember page and I hope that my part has helped just a little.  I am really looking forward to next year and hope to be able to create an even better Mo next time.

There is still time to donate to the cause if you like.
